gear list - Day Crews

Day crews are made up of local folks who meet up for work each day and go home each night. They bring what gear they need in a day pack and eat lunch together in the field.

Required Gear for Day Crews

  • Day pack (20-35L)
  • Long work pants (no big rips/holes; Dickies or Carhartts are a good choice, jeans not recommended)
  • ​Sturdy work/hiking boots (needs to reach over your ankle and be mostly leather)
  • Rain jacket
  • Wool or synthetic socks (avoid cotton at all costs!)
  • Fleece, wool, or synthetic jacket/sweater
  • Reusable water bottles (3-4 liters total capacity)
  • Tupperware/storage container (to pack lunch each day)​

Recommended Gear

  • Sunscreen 
  • Insect repellent ​​
  • Unscented, alcohol-based hand sanitizer (there will be crew sanitizer, but you may prefer to have your own)​
  • Hat with brim

Optional Gear

  • Rain pants​
  • Gaiters (for tick prevention)
  • Pocket knife 
  • Sunglasses 
  • Bandana 
  • Phone 
  • Camera
  • Notebook & writing utensil​

Prohibited Gear

  • Tobacco products (this includes cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, vapor, and e-cigarettes)
  • Drugs & alcohol
  • Firearms, fireworks, or explosives
  • Knives with blades over 3” long
  • Clothing with inappropriate or offensive graphics
